With national laurels like the Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratne Award and the Padma Bhushan already in the bag, Abhinav Now ready for CWG

India in confident for the first test

After the match fixing scandal in the year 2000 India Vs Australia clashed and restored the lost pride of the game through evenly contested test series. Now once again a match fixing scandal has marred the reputation of Cricket.
It is a co-incidence that once again after the match fixing scandal once again the duty of restoring lost pride of the game has come on the strong shoulders of India Vs Australia. Both the nation did it in 2004 and once again India Vs Australia are expected to do the same thing.
Once again Mighty Aussies are roaring on Indian soil and challenging the World No.1 team India on their own home soil. Aussies have come to India and 2 match test series is likely to begin on 1st October 2010 in Mohali.
1st India Vs Australia Border Gavaskar Trophy test match will take place in the PCA Stadium of Mohali which has been highly favorable for the host team in the recent past. This ground has always favored not only Indian batsmen but it has also given too much support to spin bowling of India also.
In the year 2004 mighty Australians came to India with the tag of World No.1 Team under the captaincy of Steven Waugh. On the other hand Men In blue were  recovering from the jolt of Match Fixing. After this match fixing regular Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin was banned forever. Now  Indian team was reeling at the time under the shoes of match fixing.
When Australian team came to India BCCI put the much coveted responsibility of leadership of Indian team on the positively aggressive shoulders of aggressive and honest Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly popularly known among his teammates as “Dada” who entirely changed the whole attitude of Indian team.
Under the leadership of Dada Indian team lost the 1st test match against Australia at Mumbai. But in the next test match dada ignited his team and jumped in the battle field once again with all new confident Indian team in the next test match and turned they eyes of entire world towards this series. Now the whole world was looking at the series. That was the moment perhaps Indian team and Dada needed to prove their metal.
Under the inspired leadership of Bengal Tiger Sourav Ganguly Indian team not only bounced back by registering a thumping win in the next test match but made Australia bite the dust in the series too.
Once again India Vs Australia are all set to clash in India. But since 2004 several things have changed. Now both the teams are under the leadershipof two different captains. Now Ricky Ponting is leading Australian team on the other hand Indian team is being led by Mahender Singh Dhoni. Earlier Australia was the world No.1 Team but now this crown has come on the head of Indian team.
Australian team is now fourth in the ICC world Ranking. If Australia wins this series so Australia will come on no.2 in the ICC world ranking but if Australia looses this series so that means that World Champions will start Ashes with the ranks below England in the ICC world Ranking.
In this series restoring the lost pride will not only be in the agenda of both the teams. There are something more to watch in this series like will Harbhajan Singh once again get on the nerves of Ricky Ponting and his men? Who will win the battle between Crickety God Sachin Tendulakar and Australian legend Ricky Ponting? Will the Wall of India Rahul Dravid stand tall against Australian team once again like he did in Kolkata and Sydney? Will Nathan Hauritz be able to handle World’s best spinnplayers with his bowling? But the biggest thing to watch in this series will be is that What Controversy will take place between these two sworn enemies this time?
Whatever, since Indian team has got the title of World No.1 Team, has not lost any series anywhere in the world. However, Indian team is still capable of beating mighty Australians.
Players to watch out for:
Australia:Although Australia is ranked fourth in the ICC ranking yet Indian team can not take Australia lightly. From Australian side Shane Watson, Simon Katich, Nathan Hauritz will be the key players to watch out for.
India:Since India is the World No.1 team so it has been done by the players like Suresh Raina, Harbhanjan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag so these players have indispensible role to play for the success of India against Australia.Rahul dravid the wall is the key player of india in test
So Australian team will have to chock out remedy as soon as possible in order to get rid of these players otherwise each of these player is alone capable enough to dig the grave of Australia in this Border Gavaskar Series.
Harbhajan Singh speaks to Virender Sehwag during practice session in Mohali
Team News:Test series is likely to begin within wo days and at the edge of commencement of the series Indian team has got a jolt in the shape of Harbhjan Singh who has got injured. He is doubtful for the first test at Mohali against Australia.

Rousing wlcome for Oueen's baton in Delhi

Reaches host city after traversing 1,90,000km

After traversing 1,90,000 km across the world — 20,000 km of it through the Indian territory — the Queen's Baton Relay for the XIX Commonwealth Games reached the host city here on Thursday afternoon.
Olympian and Dronacharya awardee Satpal Singh ran in with the gold-plated baton into the Organising Committee headquarters at Jantar Mantar and handed it over to Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna, who in turn passed it on to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi received the baton from Ms. Dikshit.
Light-emitting diodes embedded on the baton lighted up in the pattern of the Indian tricolour.
  • Ms. Dikshit began her speech with a friendly dig at the OC chairman. “Our good friend Suresh Kalmadi needs a big bump and a big pat on his back,” she quipped, adding that all the agencies were trying their best to organise a good Games. “But only public participation can make them better.”Queen's Baton Relay History

Team india ready for the tournement Against aussies

Australia's players have crafted tactics to subdue opener Virender Sehwag and deny India an early advantage in the first Test, Australia cricket coach Tim Nielsen said Wednesday.

Sehwag is known for his hard-hitting and dominating the opposition's bowling attack with his rich stroke-play, easing pressure on his team-mates in the process.

"He has such a damaging effect at the top of the order and we have spoken about that. The individual players have plans on how to counter his aggressive style of play," Nielsen said ahead of the opening Test starting on Friday.

"It makes it so much easier for Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman if they are batting on the back of a whirlwind 90 or a hundred from Sehwag. He certainly goes a long way to setting up their innings."

Sehwag, the only Indian to have hammered a Test triple-century, has so far scored 7,039 runs in 79 Tests with 21 hundreds.

The Australian coach said India had the bowlers to press home the advantage given by the hard-hitting opener.

"Sehwag sets it up with the bat and the bowling unit works well as a group," said Nielsen.

"Everybody talks a lot about their individual bowlers, but as a bowling group they are a consistent unit. They have played together for quite a while.

" Ishant Sharma (paceman) burst onto the scene when he played against Australia at home. Zaheer Khan has become the leader of the attack, and Harbhajan Singh (spinner) has more than 350 Test wickets."

Australian batsman Michael Hussey and fast bowler Doug Bollinger joined the squad in Mohali after participating in the Twenty20 Champions League in South Africa.
